I have a lot of information for you. Too much for an announcement. Hope that’s ok! First off:

Thank you for joining us at the 1st Campfire Session!

We went over the allotted time (an actual surprise for some, totally unsurprising for others) and it was a little rough around the edges, but overall we had a fantastic time and we’re already working on the next one. The feedback from those who attended the Twitch broadcast, or who watched the vod afterward, has been overall positive as well. We love to hear it!

Fundraiser

As mentioned at the Campfire, a generous community member who wishes to remain anonymous has offered to match up to $300 in Tebex contributions from Aug 16 – Sept 16.

If you’re unfamiliar with Tebex, it’s kind of like Patreon but for modded game servers. It supports transactions for a number of platforms from Cfx to Minecraft. There are currently 2 ways to contribute to TRP through Tebex: One time payments and monthly subscriptions. Monthly subscribers get a cute Discord Badge as a token of our appreciation.

From July 15 – Aug 15 we received $100 in Tebex subscriptions (woo thank you!). It looks like we’re up to about $155 so far since Aug 16 (yee haw, thanks!). So we’re a little over half way to the $300 goal!

All Tebex contributions help pay for server costs.

Expenses

This is a subject that we’ve not been as transparent about as we could have been! Up until very recently, Hicks_206 and I have been happy to manage server expenses ourselves and didn’t see a need to fund-raise, so the question of costs really hadn’t come up (nor had we taken stock of individual expenses ourselves oops). In hind sight, players have been asking for ways to contribute and making Tebex purchases since before we joined TRP’s ownership team, and we should have taken the opportunity to break down costs much sooner.

So, what expenses are the Tebex funds paying for? Good question! Here’s a detailed breakdown:

TRPeople As part of our ongoing effort to improve communication, increase our social media presence, and elevate the RP experience on our servers, our content crew has been working on a Youtube series called TRPeople.

Our goal with these longer-form videos is to highlight all the intention and creativity our players are bringing to their RP, and explore what goes on behind the scenes when they’re making those heat-of-the moment decisions for their characters. Inspired by our favorite documentaries (Some of us have been watching a lot of Reading Rainbow and Daniel Tiger lately… It’s me. I’m some of us.) we’re interviewing players one-on-one about characters and scenes that inspire, entertain, surprise, and delight us.

LaurenEatsDinosaurs (Lauren), a budding server Dev, Community Support teammate, and RDR Ambassador, took the reins on our first two TRPeople episodes. In Episode 1, featured below and released at the 1st Campfire Session, she interviewed Zachbrowningoutdoors (Zach) about Sheriff Zachariah Anderson. If you’ve never had a chance to get to know Zach, this is a fantastic opportunity that really drives home one of my core RP beliefs: you can’t judge a player by their character!

The next episode will be released at our next Campfire Session! In it, Lauren interviews Mrmusichat (MusicHat) about Richard Garland, and a particularly entertaining scene involving a theater and a hatchet. It’s delightful, insightful, and I can’t wait for everyone to see it.

Our hope is to release a new TRPeople episode each month. If you are interested in being featured or want to recommend someone to be featured on TRPeople or Campfire Sessions, please submit a clip in the Community-Submissions forum!
